In Kanazawa City, the accommodation tax system will change from October 2024, 10, and accommodation tax will be exempt if the accommodation fee is less than 1 yen per person per night.

[Tax rate before change (for stays up to September 2024, 9)]
Accommodation fee (per person per night)
Less than 20,000 yen: Accommodation tax 200 yen
Over 20,000 yen: Accommodation tax 500 yen

[New tax rate (for stays from October 2024, 10)]
Accommodation fee (per person per night)
¥5,000 to ¥20,000: Accommodation tax ¥200
Over 20,000 yen: Accommodation tax 500 yen

*The accommodation fee is the price per person per night for a stay without meals, consumption tax, hot spring tax, etc., plus any associated service charges.
