As autumn deepens and winter approaches, the sky over Izumi transforms into the stage for a magnificent drama.

Every year from mid-October to December, over 10 cranes fly in from the Siberian plains and spend the winter here until around March. The number and variety of cranes is the largest in Japan, and the area has been designated a Special Natural Monument by the government as "Kagoshima Prefecture's Cranes and Their Migration Grounds."

You can witness a flock of cranes taking flight in unison illuminated by the morning glow, and gracefully flapping their wings against the backdrop of the setting sun - the entire sky is painted as beautifully as a painting.
